Twistor theory gives rise to many complex analytic geometric structures on complex manifolds. I will explain why many types of holomorphic geometric structures satisfy a Hartogs extension phenomenon, so that they can't have any ``small'' singularities, while other types of holomorphic geometric structures can have such singularities. I will also describe some global classification theorems for holomorphic geometric structures on compact Kaehler manifolds.
