University of Toronto PDE/Applied Math/Analysis Seminar Monday Noveber 28, 3:10-4pm 1230 Bahen Center SPEAKER: Juan Manredi (University of Pittsburgh) TITLE: Quasilinear PDEs in the Heisenberg group ABSTRACT: We first present an introduction to the geometry and analysis in the Heisenberg group. We then review the analog of the De Giorgi-Moser estimates for elliptic equations in divergence form with measurable coefficients. Next, we discuss the higher regularity of solutions to the subelliptic p-Laplacian when p is close to 2 using Cordes subelliptic estimates. The talk will end with a general discussion of regularity for quasilinear elliptic equations modeled on the p-Laplacian. The new results presented are in collaboration with Andras Domokos and Giuseppe Mingione. ------------------------------------------------------------ University of Toronto PDE/Applied Math/Analysis Seminar http://www.math.toronto.edu/appmath/ 2005-2006 organizers: Pieter Blue pblue@ math.toronto.edu Almut Burchard almut@ math.toronto.edu Bob Jerrard rjerrard@ math.toronto.edu ------------------------------------------------------------
