Title: Minimal surfaces in hyperbolic space and re-normalization of area

Abstract: 
I will start with a discussion of the standard probelm of
minimal surfaces in Euclidean sace and then present its analogue in
the hyperbolic world. I will then present the notion of renormalization of
area for such surfaces (intoroduced by Graham and Witten), along with some
applications recently obtained in joint work with Rafe Mazzeo.

(6th floor Bahen) which students are encouraged to attend.
