All graduate degrees offered by the University of Toronto capitalize on the research strength of its faculty and students. Unlike traditional MSc programs, which require completion of a novel major research report, the 16-month MSc in Applied Computing program (MScAC) requires students to complete an applied research internship at a firm, following completion of four graduate-level technical courses. These courses cover multiple areas of computer science, including machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence, systems and networks, and software engineering.
Students in the MScAC program are very carefully selected (approximately one in ten applicants receive offers) and often have considerable prior professional experience.
